Pretty in striped purple.......

Brandon Osborne Oct 22, 2005 05:27 PM

I know it's a cross but this is a 4th generation ANERYTHRISTIC Brooksi X Goini that hatched a couple of months ago. Let me know what you think.

With one of the siblings.

Thanks
Brandon Osborne

I've always liked the stark black eyes of anerys and such. Very pretty snake.
Still have that adult female we were talking about months ago?

(From a line from the movie "Wizards", a Frank Bakshi film circa 1972.)

I can't help but wonder: If I take the human Breeder and breed him selectively for color, if in 4-5 generations, could I produce children from him with purple tinge to THEIR skin?

Or maybe big, bulbous eyes like some goldfish?

Or maybe long, trailing limbs or tail?

Or maybe a meek, timid nature that only responds when spoken to?

I can hear Nature whispering to me now: "Sometimes to keep it together, we've got to leave it alone."

I think that I've made my point...

Mike Meade Oct 23, 2005 11:10 AM

If you consider blue to be a purplish tinge there are already such people.

Enjoy!

Ok, we're all entitled to our opinions. Let me ask you this......do you keep snakes? If so, what kind? Where did you get them? Wild caught or captive bred. Keeping it together in captivity is not "leaving it alone". So what's your point again? I think we all missed it.

Peace.

I'm sorry to follow such a negative view... but that's his opinion.

I think that they're beautiful as well! I too have a craving to have such a beauty in my collection one day. LOL.

ZFelicien Oct 23, 2005 11:06 AM

Can anyone explain the genetics of Goini patterless or striped? I would think these cross-bred with known recessive traits would show a relationship somewhere with these other traits. Did this stripe pop up in the fourth generation or was it known present? It is more complicated that just following the stripe? Is it yet possible to line breed for patternless? What genetics are at work that prevent it???

I was really excited to see this snake hatch out. I'll be sure to share more pics as it grows. Thanks again for the kind, and not so kind, words.

I sure am looking forward to seeing pics of this one as it matures and the offspring of such as well. I just got into this hobby, so it is nice to know what CAN happen with some diligence and care.
