Just went in to check on my newest addition and was stopped dead in my tracks when I noticed blood all over her enclosure. There was a pile of bloody droppings and then blood smeared everywhere. I have only had her two weeks now. She came to me in shed and still has yet to completely shed even with added humidity. After a week of leaving her alone, she took a frozen thawed rat from me and now a few days later, this starts. I took a good look at her and her tummy is still pink from shedding and her back scales have dried blood under them. Actually, her back scales (right before the vent) look horrible, like someone burned her with an iron, but I think it is just dried blood that has gotten between the shed and new skin - I hope. The ambient heat in her enclosure is in the low 80's with a hot spot that stays around 91. I soaked her in some warm/lukewarm bath water for about 15 minutes and while doing that she passed some more bloody goo. Her back end right before the vent seems slightly hard and swollen. I was able to get a sample of what she is passing and have it in a baggy (should I put that in the fridge?). I plan to take her to a vet on Monday or an emergency hospital tomorrow morning if need be. Has anyone ever had anything like this happen before? All else seems to be fine - breathing clean, no problems with the mouth, full mobility, etc... I'm really worred about her! Should I increase her heat? Anything else in the meantime that I should be doing before taking her to the vet?
