Humidifiers...Good or Bad?

Chamlvr420 Oct 23, 2005 10:53 AM

Just wondering a little about humidifiers being used to keep terrarium humidity up. Is this a good or a bad idea?

Humidifiers

They are excellent! Used along with a quality humidity gauge and a multiple setting lamp timer you can maintain a pretty precise humidity level in the cage without having to spray multiple times a day. You'll still have to spray for drinking, but the cham won't get as dehydrated between sprayings. Depending on where you live (heating the house in winter, AC in summer) cages can get really dry. The gauge will tell you how dry the cage gets over time so you can create a repeating cycle of fogging and drying during 24 hours. Like anything, you will have to keep the system clean (I have an RO filter in my kitchen which gives me really clean water for the unit).

K well i tried the himidifier thing and because of not having proper drainage the terrarium flooded! Was not very cool water everywhere! Giving up for now... Gotta figure out a way to drain the enclosure. Any tips? She really enjoyed the mist from the humidifier so i would really like to continue with this form of watering.

Thanks.
