An Albino

jeph Oct 24, 2005 01:28 PM

Here is a pic of my female albino. She is 50% het-hypo,and 25% chance of being an actual hybino. She was the first albino pyro I saw in perosn, now I got another albino this year-(a male) and he is fire engine red compared to her. So now its a matter of test breeding to see if she is a het-hypo BHB or an actual hybino. I also got a pair of BHB hypo het-albinos this year-(the female is a "pale" BHB hypo, and the male a nice light regualr BHB hypo) so I have a few animals to help me see what genes she has. She is an '04 hatch and is close to 100 grams as of now. She has been growing faster than I thought she would,at 100grams now,she may be ready to go next year-('06). Enjoy the pic,

Wow...that is a beautiful snake! Are albino pyros hybrids or 100% natural?

Hi Danny,
The albino pyros are 100% pure pyro pyro. BHB had bought the original group that produced these from a guy in KS., the BHB hypos and albinos came from the same line. That is why most albinos are poss. het-hypo BHB and BHB hypos poss. het-albino. There is even a pyro we believe to be a hybino-(actually 2 of them now). But it is not that surprising since both morphs came from the same line. BHB used to have an article on their site about the hypo and albino pyros. But once they got more into ball pythons, they took that down and had a ball python article up. Check out pyromelana.com for more info on pyros and their morphs. There are some neat looking pyro morphs out there. I enjoy the morphs a lot,but like seeing pics of locality pyros even more. One thing about the albino pyros- I know it is always questionable when you see a new albino tri-color-(since people crossed the ruthveni into evrything lampropeltis..thanks guys) but every albino pyro I've seen-(pics included) has looked 100% pyro. They all have that classic big headed baby look to them like pyros have. I have not seen any of the pyro morphs that look hybirds to me. Take care,
jeff teel
