I thought I'd share some finds from the past few weeks.

Redbellied Watersnake

Copperheads...the Southerns down here in Florida are some of the most attractive Copperheads around IMO.

Nice pics and snakes, but nicest copperheads, hmmmmmmmmm Please do not hunt copperheads in West Texas, some there are, well, not in the same universe, there were be no going back. So please do not look if someone posts pics of those. Again, great pics. Thanks FR

Here is an average East Texas southern -

Somewhere I have a pic of a REALLY pink southern.

But if you go a little bit NW, you get into nice laticinctus, which blow southerns away, IMHO -

And further west you find pictigaster (a glorified laticinctus, IMHO) which again put southerns to shame -

That's why I used the word "SOME". Nice pics Chris!

rak Oct 24, 2005 03:43 PM

I would not call it a glorified laticinctus

I saw a couple from the stonehouse off river road that blew my socks off. Any pics of those.

Nice willardi!

I've always loved those. A couple keepers from the Buffalo Zoo went down your way and collected a few of those many, many years ago for display. They were always one of the highlights of an otherwise dissapointing zoo visit. Thanks Frank.

Outstanding Sean! I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder but to me at least, those Florida chunks are about as nice as it gets. Phil

Sean Oct 25, 2005 01:32 AM

Thanks Phil! I must say I definitely agree.

Sean Oct 25, 2005 01:22 AM

Thanks Norm. I did buy a new camera...back in May I think...but I'm still trying to learn all the functions. The secret? Get on the ground and get dirty!

What a nice event, and nice photos to allow us to see it. Beautiful. To find windows that allow us to see a snake, doing what it does, is what I do this for. Thanks for showing. Now if we could only see these kinds of pics with kingsnakes. hahahahahahaha FR

Beautiful snakes, both! Thanks for sharing!
