EVENING TELEGRAPH (Coventry, UK) 24 October 05 Iguana is driven up the wall by cold
Firefighters are more used to rescuing cats up trees than an iguana on a roof.
But that's what they faced when this 2ft-long lizard scaled the walls of the house in Norton Leys, Hillside, Rugby, and clung on for two days until its rescue.
Animal welfare officials say the cold-blooded creature was lucky to survive his nights on the tiles after escaping from another house, or being dumped by its owner.
RSPCA Inspector Pam O'Neill said: "Heat is a major thing they need, but he was outside in the cold for quite a while."
Firefighters took the lizard back to the station before the RSPCA collected it and took it to a specialist reptile centre in Stoneleigh.
Insp O'Neill today urged anyone with information about the creature - which has a green belly and red/brown back, and one claw missing, to get in touch.
She said: "I would like to appeal to anyone that knows who this lizard belongs to or anyone who is missing a lizard in Rugby."
