OK, I'll ask again and hope for a response this time ... Super Pinstripe?

BitByTheSpider Oct 25, 2005 09:54 PM

I asked a couple days ago if anyone knows definatively whether there is or is not a super form for the Pinstripe. Has anyone gone Pin to Pin yet? If so, what were the results? I'd appreciate your response. Thanks, Joe.

Pinstripe is the same as spider, dominant.

Only one breeding that I know of has been done with Pin to Pin and there were 5 pins. They could have very easily missed on a super. Also I've heard a theory that dom/co-doms with mottled stomachs don't have a super. Spider has a mottled stomach...pin doesn't...we'll see

Hello,

I also only know of one Pinstripe x Pinstripe clutch of 5 eggs which had 5 Pinstripes in it. As the breeder who produced this clutch always says..."I figured my odds were just as good hatching 5 out of 5 Pins as it was missing the Super out of 5 eggs." Seems that most everyone has the same information.

As for the "belly" theory... I was in agreement with several other breeders that all the Co/Inc Dominant mutations seem to have a clear stomach in their "het" form (i.e. Cinnamon Pastel, Pastel Jungle, Mojave, Lesser Platinum, Phantom etc.) It wasn't until I added a Woma Ball to my collection that I realized our theory was shot to hell. The Woma mutation which has consistently produced a Homozygous result, visually different from itself, has a mottled stomach like that of a Spider.

How about a Spotnose... since I don't have mine yet... can anyone comment on their stomach color/pattern? Not to add yeat another "belly pattern/color" debate to this forum but just to satisfy some curiousity.

Thanks... Good luck... I'm still hoping for that Super Pinstripe!

Do you really believe that there has only been 1 pin to pin breeding?? I am not saying I know of any other, but I think by the time the general public sees these morphs, the originators have bred them many, many times to see what the possibilities are. I know I would be surprised if there have not been atleast a dozen pin to pin litters. Obviously there is no way to tell for sure, but I think we were all surprised how many spiders came out of the wood work in the last 2 years, a lot more people were breeding them then most expected. So is the market going to crash, since a lot of people are breeding spid......
Never mind, I'm not even going to almost start this discussion up again!

I never mentioned the market crashing, everyone here knows what the market has been doing lately. I just used spiders as an example. I did not even say anything about the pinstripe market crashing, all I said is that I think there have been many more pin to pin breedings then one. I have never gotten involved in a "crash of the market" thread. Craig

I know...just playing off the oh, too often discussed crashing...great comment for the spiders...
