Monitor Literature

emeraldeyes Oct 26, 2005 12:33 PM

Does anyone know of a monitor book, especially pertaining to ackie monitors, that is a good overview on care requirements, behavior, and breeding?

Or maybe just a good overall monitor book in general?

Hi,
I have collected ~400 pages of A-Z listing of Varanus literature. There is alot more of it than most realize.

There is a recently published book on V. acanthurus in captivity published/printed in German. Do you read German?

There are a few good articles published in Reptiles magazine.... you can try them...

For an overall good book on monitor lizards in general - you can do no better than Daniel Bennett's book, "Monitor Lizards". There is a more recently published book on Varanus edited by Eric Pianka, Dennis King and Ruth King - but it is limited in scope (only wild field data is reported - and as some people here deem this of little value to captive keepers - its up to you).

Good Hunting,
mbayless
