Emergency!

Not trying to waste space in the forum with the back to back posts, but when I was checking my ball out tonight, he suddenly expelled a bunch of clear mucous onto me. Does anybody know of any good reptile vets in the Philadelphia area, or a listing of rep vets in general? I've never had to take one of my snakes in for any reason and I'm not sure where to begin. In the mean time I've upped his temps and am keeping the humidity at 60-70%. Should I up the humidity also? Please help, I'm very worried for him.

Are you sure it was mucus not just water - balls are notoriously bad for holding thier water - if he'd just been drinking before you picked him up he could have just lost his cocktail so to speak. But it's always best to err on the side of caution - is he popping or making any funny noises? Is he active? Hanging his head?

Here's the situation, I'm going to hold him for observation for a day or two. When the mucous came out he was on my back and neck and I didn't see it. It definitely wasn't water as it was viscous. However, as soon as I put him back in his tank he went to the bathroom. It didn't register at first because I was panicked, but his excretion is actually the same color and consistency as what he let go on my neck. He hasn't had any abnormal breathing sounds (for the 2 years or so I've had him he occaisonally goes through periods where he sounds a little wheezy, but no other symptoms of sickness so I think he's just more vocal at times). He's still very active and his mouth and nostrils were clear when I checked them. I think he may have started going to the bathroom on me and stopped when I reacted. I'm going to wait a day and see how he's acting. Thoughts or opinions?

Not sure where you are but there's a vet that specializes in exotics right down the street from where I used to live. I never went to her but sure would have been convenient if I needed to. I'm not exactly sure how you could find the exact info but that's a start. Hope it helps somewhat.
