Shipping questions...

Jaysonj Oct 26, 2005 09:36 PM

Hello This post was gonna be really long but i'll try and make it as short as possible

Well I was gonna get a BP by ordering it from a breeder in the classifieds. I was supposed to get one for my first snake but got a corn (which I love) but I also wanted to get a BP. Well I just wanted to know will UPS or whoever check the box the animal is being shipped in? I'm afraid if ups or fedex checks the box that something horrible will happen to my snake (i.e weather, left open, escape, freaked people, and many others). Can they check the box of an animal "just to make sure" what it is? Thanks for anyone answering these questions, just want to be sure before I order my BP online!

p.s. Are there more hatchling BP's in the spring, summer, fall or winter? Just want to know when the best time is to purchase a new one.

Just be discrete and you shoudl have no problems with receiving the snake UPS, DHL, or Fed Ex. I have used them all with no problems. I do however like Fed Ex the best. Just make sure you are home to receive the package or better yet pick it up at the station. They almost never ask what it is and are usually too busy to care.

Order from someone reliable and they will know how to properly ship your animal. The only door to door service that will knowingly ship snakes in Fedex. And the package should be labeled as to it's contents - most people don't do this - I had over 50 snakes delivered to me this year two of them were labeled - non were labeled properly. But yes - the shipping companies reserve the right to inspect your package - doesn't normally happen but its always a possibility. Sometimes bigger snakes will flop around in the box and this might cause some concern for someone but a hatchling shouldn't be any problem. And Spring and Summer time is when there are an abundance of hatchlings - but you can pretty much find them year around!
