Tokay death

freckles680 Oct 27, 2005 02:24 AM

I just found one of my pair of Tokay's dead at the bottom of the cage. Well he died as I picked him up. He has a graze type cut by the side of his mouth and what looks like a bite mark on his leg. I have had the pair for over two years and I am at a loss to know what has happened. They live in a huge enclosure with lots of cover, both real and plastic and eggs are regularly laid. When one of them escaped a few months ago the other called repeatedly so I thought they were "in lurve". Is it possible that they had a falling out and one killed the other? Was there anything I could have done to prevent this happening?

SAD ! So sorry as I know how much it bothers me when I lose a pet.
None of us can be sure what happened but from what you say and the fact there was bite marks, one would have to assume they were fighting.

In any case I'm sorry and hope ya feel better soon.

Take care,
