snakes have been in the media in the last couple months? Great publicity. The large constrictors should NOT be sold in pet stores.
"The large constrictors should NOT be sold in pet stores."
You are 1000% right!!!!!!!
Nah, selling them isn't the main problem. They just need to administer an IQ test prior to purchase. That would take care of most of the problems!

My local pet store was selling a 7 foot burm and told the girl it was full grown. I quickly told her, not even close.

Yea,
I've been kicked out of more then a few pet stores for giving the right info.
Once they were telling the KID(couldn't of been more then 15 or so) that the burm they were selling him could live it's life in the 55gal tank they were selling him, would only need to eat once a month, and wouldn't get much bigger. The poor snake was only about 4' at the time, and i'm thinking it was underfeed.
When I told the asst manager what was going on, he went and talked to the kid, then the kid,the tank, the heat rock, the bedding(pine I think), and the snake went out the door, the store got it's sale, and I was told to never come back.
I never did find out what happend to the burm, the store was only open for a few months after that.
That is why I do think we need some type of regulations for the bigger reptiles. Yearly inexpections would do a lot to help too.
I've been told it would cost to much for the states, but if you have ever bought a cage for a lg burm, then a $400.00 fee once a year isn't too bad, and would also help keep burms out of the hands of KIDS!!
Sure sounds better then an outright ban does.
Sorry but this realy gets to me, I love my burms and will move out of state if need be just to keep them. I sure hope it does not come to that but I think it will, and soon.
