####........ shipping?

amayon Oct 27, 2005 01:38 PM

wow. just got my 3rd girl and i dont know what to think. she was in a cloth bag, tightly tied with no room to get out of a ball shape, with newspaper only for padding............
shes alright, but i cringe to think of what could have happened. does anybody ship in JUST a little bag..... no deli cups or at the very least a cheapie plastic container?!?! the other shipment the snakes were in a sterilite with air holes drilled, definitely a better way to ship them.
what is everyones thoughts? cloth bag really risky?

I think the ones shipped in a sterlite box had the worst trip. Too much room for the snake to get tossed around during handling. I prefer a snugger fit. I usually use 6 inch delis with enough paper towels to fill the void. But thats my preference. Ron

I ship with bags only (in the appropriate insulated box obviously) tied off with a cable tie - packed firm so that they don't bounce around but not to tight that they cannot move about a bit - I find it lessens the stress of shipping that way. I've had snakes shipped to me in deli cups where the snake could not move at all and some where the cup was obviously too big and they bounced around quite a bit. I've also had snakes shipped to me in pillowcases that came untied or weren't tied tight enough and the snake slipped right out of the knot.

I've only shipped out twice, but I've made several purchases, and they've all been in the canvas bags/pillow cases w/ a little room for movement. When I shipped out, I used shredded paper instead of crumpled newspaper, as I thought it would be "softer" and be better than the newsprint.

Delta almost didn,t let me ship once because they were in deli cups and NOT in a bag they said they must be in a bag although I have received alot that were shipped in plastic containers if done right I don,t see a problem either way.
