heating?

amayon Oct 27, 2005 01:53 PM

if ones bedroom is comfortable enough to sit naked in (i have no idea the actual temp, but whatever is comfortable to sit naked in LMAO sorry mods not trying to be lewd!), can you get away with no heating for your bps? can they digest meals in a room temperature room? or do i absolutely need to provide some kind of heating?

thanks

I provide no supplemental heat, but I heat my room to 86 degrees, and it usually fluctuates between 85-90 degrees. I think that just a room temp room, usually around 75, would be waaaaaaaaaay too cold.

Ball pythons do well when they have a hotspot at around 90 and a cool side near 80. If the room is kept in the mid eighties you should be ok though. Do you have a thermometer in the room? You will need one so you are not just guessing the room temp.

If you had the temperature in the room right for your bps, then you shouldnt be able to be comfortable. I pretty much sweat like hell when i go into my bp room. I have an area heater in there and that keeps the ambient temp good in there, then they also have a heat lamp on the cage(sounds like im burning them i know but im way up in the mountains and it gets really cold in there without the area heating.)
And i dont mean to be a jerk but i feel that if it isnt easy for someone to keep an animal in its ideal cconditions, then maybe that species is not for you.
