Best Python Books?

jfarah Oct 27, 2005 04:41 PM

Hi people,

I am putting together a list of what I want from Santa for Christmas this year, and reptile books are at the top of the list. Can anyone suggest some of the better books on pythons?
I am not so much looking for husbandry or breeding guides, but more along the lines of species accounts, and pythons in the wild. I was thinking about "Living Pythons of the World", but the reviews I read about it were bad.

Anyone have a favorite ???
Please include author names if possible. There are a lot of books titled "Pythons".

Thanks,

Joe

Well this past Christmas I didn't get any gifts at all and my Python seemed to have a huge lump in his belly. So I think Christmas is in doubt this year. Sorry

Better luck this year.

'Living Pythons" is not bad, but 'Breeding Pythons and Boas' is. For Aussie stuff, try the Barker's book, but it's expensive and only obtainable through VPI.

Just kidding lol. Do a search on amazon.com, good prices and good variety. Hope that helps

Thanks guys,

Im glad to hear that "Living Pythons..." is good. I checked out "Living Boas of the World" from the library a while back and i was amazed at how many species there were in S. and Central America that I had never even heard of!! I was hoping to find the same thing with "Living Pythons..." The Barker's book also sounds like a must have. Thanks Jaykis

I probably will use Amazon.com to find "Living Pythons of the World" since its hard to come by. Thanks skyclad. Also, what does "lol" stand for anyways???

It stands for Laughing Out Loud. I thought you would find my Santa missing joke a bit funny, but oh well

Oh.. I always used it to mean " lots of luck".

Beautiful JCP!

I think the Barker book can only be bought on VPI's webpage. If you like, I listed a few reptile books on ebay under my ebay seller name of jaysales One of them is Cogger's large Australian book that's out of print.
