Hi,
I would like to make a tropical vivarium and keep multiple species in it. Does anyone have any suggestions of what can and can't be kept together?
Thanks
Steve

Well, snakes generally don't do too well with other species but if you do a lot of research you might find some that can get along with other herps. What usually works best is some combination of amphibians and reptiles. A good example would be treefrogs, anoles and a nocturnal species of gecko. Keeping all of the species at the same general size also helps keep them from eating each other. You wouldn't keep a Cuban Treefrog in with green anoles and house geckos or you'd end up with only a Cuban Treefrog. Instead a combo like dart frogs and medium-sized [5-6cm svl] anoles and geckos would be good. You also want to use only species with overlapping geographic ranges, that way you don't have conflicts with differing climatic conditions - eg. all rainforest species from S. America, all desert species from Africa, etc.

i am looking to do a lizard and treefrog viv.
could you list some species that will so well together?
I don't have any recommendations although I have a buddy that house's small Day Geckos with his Dart frogs.
I was going to ask if you have posted this at any other forum?
If you haven't I must warn you expect some hostility it is typically frowned on to mike species but it can be done.
Good luck
Crested Geckos and tree frogs would work well but be cautious of animal size.

i am not saying to put them all together in a tank, they are just all of the animals i personally have kept in community vivariums, like i said, not all together.
