Meal worm?

jakejeff Feb 07, 2003 05:40 PM

My beardie just turned 2 months old and I was wondering if its O.K to feed him mealies? I know the mealies should be the size between the eye's but is that the length of the mealie or the thickness of the mealie??
thank you!

You definitely dont want the thickness to be bigger then the space between the eyes because that would make the length probably 2-3 times that! With worms I found if they are a TINY bit longer then the space between the eyes its not that big of a deal. They tend to chew them well and usually mine swallow them long ways, not sideways. If I were you, I wouldnt even bother giving him the mealworms. He is only 2 months old and if he eats crickets now he might not be so interested in them after you have fed him mealworms a few times. I would try and keep him on crickets and salad as long as possible Take care, Lindsay

Also, mealworms can be very hard to digest. Its better to feed them to older dragons anyways.
