Check out my new enclosure and some new pics of my panther!!!

Here is a few pictures of my new setup. I used a 175 gallon reptarium, and it came out great. I put in a misting system and drainage, and lots of plants!! My almost 2 year old panther loves it.

He has been hiding alot because hes not used to his new cage. He seems to be a little tamer in the new cage though.

Hey,

Very nice. You clearly put alot of time and effort into setting it up. It looks perfect, except for one minor thing I would change. I would not keep so many plants near the bottom of the cage. When he deficates, it will surely get caught in the plant, and be hard to clean. Be sure to clean the cage on a daily basis. Good luck!!!

Dude what misting head/system is that?

What are the cups hanging there?

Are those fake veins that you use to just decorate and hang things with or are they real?

Hey,

I hate to answer his questions, but I saw that you just posted. The misting nozzles appear to be a Mr. Moisture misting system. The cups are there for cup feeding insects, which has its good and bad points. If you are looking into getting into chameleons, email me letting me know that you want a caresheet, at jodi.w@netzero.com, or call my cell at (631)813-5966.

Yes, the are reptavines. I like them for the little ladders and stuff. Why is using feeing bowls a bad idea?? Its not good to let the insects free range because they will bite my cham. You can get different sizes of the reptavines at pertsmart.

The reason it is bad, is because sometimes chams just wont eat out of them. They would rather starve than do so; but if your does, good. Also it might be a bad idea because they don"get the "exercise" that they need. They need to use their hunting skills. Also, make sure that the misting nozzle isnt going into the food cup, or you will have a big breeding ground of bacteria. But, leting them free roam also isnt that good. The crickets can eat the chameleons (never personally happened to me that I know of), and if the bugs walk through their fecal matter, the chams will be exposed to bacteria and parasites. It is really just a matter of preference. Many breeders do free roaming, and many do cup feeding. Research your best on it, and then make up your own decision. You should also try each way, and see which works best for you.

I have done alot of research on the matter, and some of the best breeders uses feeing cups. I know not to put the msting nozzle above the feeding dishes, as Im not that dumb. I have had chameleons over years, so I sort of know what I am doing. My old cage was made of wood and screen. Im not kidding, I found cross bred cricket/superwroms in there and god knows what else. I did my best at cleaning it very thouroughly, but I still found some nasty stuff in there when I threw it away. I am still thinking of putting a vertical light in the back of the cage too.

Here is a pic of my panther as a baby.
