Help, female A. prasina stopped eating.

Visahari Jul 21, 2003 07:58 PM

My adult female A. prasina last ate 2 months ago. I have been offering her large male anoles every week and she just doesn't seem to take them. She still exhibits hunting behavior and has a healthy girth, but she is getting thinner. She was paired with a male for several weeks, but i never observed copulation, and she is too thin to be gravid. She still drinks water readily. Does anyone have any advice? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou,

Matt F

Check the mouth for saliva, if she is fighting a cold she won't eat, also if she has intestinal parasites. If no sign of illness are found I would treat with panacure and metrondazole.why not see a vet?

Thanks for the thoughts, she was treated of parasites in a series that started about a month ago and ended about 2 weeks ago. Im hoping her system is just in a "shock" from the medication and will recover normal activity. Any evidence that a Full spectrum bulb may help?

I agree as above but also offer smaller anoles. A large anole can be a match for even a big prasina and the snake knows it (I once lost a prasina this way).
