Water flow rates

jpaner Oct 28, 2005 12:06 AM

Does any keep alligators/crocs in a system where there is a constant flow of fresh water (ie well water). I know alot of the farms do this. If so I'm wondering what kind of flow/turn over rate works.

Thanks
John Paner

Hi John,

Since you and I are monopolizing the forum today I missed this one earlier. In my travels around doing background for one project or another I visited many facilities private ad public. ALOT of people hoped to survive the winters using just the method you describe. Some had a large outflow pipe going from well to pond and others simply ahd a garden hose.

One had a system where he filled one pond and then it overflowed into another which overflowed into another and so forth.

I can't answer as to what the specific flow rate was but seeing how better than half used a simple garden hose it shouldn't be to hard to figure out.
