Mega Blusher Ready to Go!!!!!

5StarrMorphs Oct 28, 2005 02:25 AM

We finally got the right ultrasound after months and weeks of waiting and trying different models until we landed the new Mindray model this week. An Absolutely unmatchable unit!!!!

We ultrasounded our mega blushed out female this evening and she is sitting at 29.8mm in follicle size. So in a nutshell, the absolute perfect and/or optimum time to introduce a male of high end proportion. That is happening as I type

She has never been a huge feeder and only @ 1450 grams, but she has 3 healthy looking follicles. Looks like some late February poss het hatchlings to me

I'm glad you finally got a unit in that's working for you! I know you were ready for that one! Best of luck this season...I'm excited to see what you do.

..... worried breeding her at that weight for 3 eggs will effect her in the future? Just curious...Ron

No, not really Ron. She is about 4 years old and as I said she hasn't ever been a huge feeder. You can also see slugs and/or follicles gone bad with this unit. She had 7 total and 3 of them perfect (cross my fingers) I would have liked to see 400 more grams on the female, but she is as ready as she'll ever be.

To palpate is one thing, but to see what you are palpating is another story. Just an unreal experience. The unit is phenominal at worst and if I knew how to take images from the ultrasound to the pc, I would have shared a pic or two.

Post some pics of your female Gary, would love to see her. Also thx Jeremy.

Yes Red, I am home and man was it a long trip. Portland to Sacramento, then on to Bakersfield to visit my daughter and over to San Luis Obispo to visit Jack. Then off to Sacramento and back home in Portland last night with a couple of visits to the local bars in Sac with friends and family. Then in 4 days its off to Oahu for 9 days to help a friend house hunt, then back for 2 days and then off to New Mexico for a 4 day visit. Extremely busy

Hi there,

I'm sure it would be very cool to see inside the snake, however, I'm curious why you went with the machine.

Not to brag or anything (LOL!!! Ralph just taught me well!) but palpation has been 100% accurate for me. I can tell what the follicles are doing from marble sized or sometimes earlier, which ones are growing, and which aren't. Which will likely be slugs before ovulation, and after, which are indeed slugs. Through palpation I know which females to breed and when to move the male to a new girl, etc.

I can't afford a machine anyway, but what do you see as the added benefit of having one, other than "the coolness factor" of being able to see inside?

Thanks, Christy

I really think its the coolness factor over anything. I did palpate the female and knew she was in range and after the 2000 mile road trip I had to just try it out

A friend of mine sells these units so with the price he gave me on it and the options available, I couldn't refuse. I have also been Mr. Electronic so to speak. Always wanting the newest gadget out. For instance, the new Blackberry 7100i just came out last week and I couldn't just pass it up. The phone has a mini pc on it and I have all of my business emails and personal emails tied into it. I can get and receive emails anywhere in the US and browse the internet too. I was on the road and relisted one of my ads from my phone. Super cool.

Aside from that, when we purchased a few animals recently that were very spendy, we intended to make every breeding we do sucessful. So thats what we are doing. Its also neat to see them and far less time consuming. It took only 30 seconds from the time I turned it on to knowing she had 3 good ones visually.
