ESU JUNGLE MIX Question?

Lia Oct 28, 2005 04:28 AM

Hi
I have been using Jungle mix by ESU for yrs and loved it for my ground skinks, fire and -5 lined( no lines anymore on them to old lol).
Either way the bags I bought yesterday were full of wood splinters infact the color of bag is different as you can see tons shredded wood.
Since I bought it through internet I didnt see it first. Its dangerous for any reptile, amphibian as the wood splinters can easily pierce it or kill it if digested. The old type was great it was harmless and soft.
The co I bought it from is taking it back . Has anyone bought this recently ?
I liked it a lot but wont use it now wanted to see if anyone has bought it recently and still same quality as before.
Maybe my 2 large bags were just from a wood filled batch.
They havent changed the "ingredients" sand, soil, orchid bark and no where does it mention tree wood shredded.
thanks

That's odd... I use the same stuff and I work at a pet shop. None of our shipments have looked out of the ordinary, hopefully yours was just a freak occurance.

Thanks I am going to buy the next batch at the pet store.
I wont risk buying it without seeing it anymore.
I loved the jungle mix but my last batch was hard wood splinters might just be a bad batch. You would have noticed it looked different as it was full of white wood sticks.
I am probably going to petstore tommorrow glad to hear they arent making it full of wood now probably bad bag.
I did email the co earlier to tell them the bag I had was unsafe for any animal.
If the co doesnt email me back within a week will switch companies for substrate all together.
thanks
