Newb with questions

I have owned several different types of "pets" in my day from an Iggy(named Iggy) to a vietnamese centipede, but i am truly interested and currently considering getting a monitor.
i just want some good feedback on all the available types(temperment, requirments, lifestyle, ect) so i can narrow my search and really start on my research. First of all im looking for a monitor thats a decent size and my that I meant not gigantic loke a water monitor(way tooo big for me) and not too small. a monitor fully grown between 3 and 5 feet is perfect.
then theres attitude.... I realize that all monitors can be quite nasty(for some thats one heck of an understatment), but what are some of the more easy going and less stressed out monitors?
any feedback would be well appreciated, thanx.

If you are looking for a monitor between 3 and 5 ft than an argus would be it. But then there is temperment. Argus monitors are flighty and do not like being handled. Most monitor species crap on you when you pick em up and the argus is definatelt one of em. For a smaller size and good temperment I would suggest an ackie. A 75 gallon tank would suffice but it is always better to go bigger. A savannah monitor, not a white throat would be around 3-4 ft wich is the right size and better temperment than an argus. For an argus you would require at least a 8ft by 3ft by 4ft cage for a full grown male and thats at least. Arguses are the most enjoyable of all the monitors in my opinion. When they feed they gorge themselves and it's fun to dangle a mouse and watch em chase it. They also often stand on their hind legs. Even they don't like being handled, they are the most entertaining. I would suggest to start off with a 2 foot size moniro. Check out some pictures on this forum and on google of the monitors I mentioned and do some research. Before you buy consider whats best for you and if your prepared to supply the animal with all its needs witch in case of the argus is an expensive amount of mice and fish among other things. Good luck

I attached some pictures of my argus for you to look at.

my argus is very laid back and shes great when handled. and you should look in to argus flavis, they' re just a little smaller than a pure argus and they're know for having a calmer temperment, mine is great
P.S heres a pic of an argus tripoding

LIZARDLOVER11,

He should get your calm Argus. I would get it but I have so little time, I am sticking to the one monitor for now. Durn job takes takes too much of my time.

I have had Argus and they are great if you like the "crazy" kind. I got a Dumerils monitor a few months ago and I am surprised at how much I like it. It is not crazy, shy, or aggressive. I feed it with tongs or either put its food in a plate and hold it to his face. He is used to me now and will eat with me inches away. It has even tried to climb onto my arm before.

Dumerils are not pretty monitors, but they may be worth considering.
