brumating and breeding questions...

dmlove Jul 21, 2003 08:10 PM

as some know, ive tried to breed my 2 drags, but the female wouldnt take. So i put both the male and female on a brumation time, about 8-9 hours of light a day. The male i beleive is taking to it, he is just sitting at the bottom of his cage all day, moving to cooler spots and sleeping. The female is still basking, but seems lazier and there is a loss of appetite. I think im going to let it go for a few more weeks, and then try again. Is this a good plan? anything i should change> Shoudl i even be brumating in the summer?

I usually take my lights down to 5 hours a day. It works pretty good for me. I also cover them up so it is real dark during the time the lights are out. I use the stuff you get to landscape your lawn. You put this stuff down and cover it up with pine bark. it keeps grass from growing. it has small holes in it so they get ventilation.
