Only have one normal ball python. here is a recent pic of her on the scale (though you can't see the rest of the scale in the pic but you can see the tray.) Her weight at the time the picture was taken was 500grams, and is around a year old.

My favorite of the year. A "select" out of africa. She had two siblings that were an identical match to her. Old picture she is now over 500 grams.

John Berry has two like her as well that he is calling hyper stripers, I like the name so thats how I have her marked for now.

Thoughts????

Is the blue glow from your camera flash or does the snake actually look like that? Nice lookig either way! Andy.

neilgolli Oct 29, 2005 06:54 PM

Thats why I stated the name Hypo striper suits her if she proves out...

Thanks Neil

ajpreptiles Oct 29, 2005 07:06 PM

Picked her up...she's my favorite snake without a doubt!...this is the only pic I have of her now, but she's crazy looking. Her white belly comes up her side a ways...Check her head too...

You got her from Charles Mills right? He did mention to me that she was one of his favorites. I believe he called her his "Queen". I ended up picking up a few things from him, good guy. Congrats on the purchase, she's a beaut.

toshamc Oct 29, 2005 12:21 PM

LOL - I was thinking when I saw her that she like the one I was going to pick up from Charles - but by the time I'd put the money together for her she was sold - she is a beauty! LOL - I guess its true what they say ... you snooze you loose.

Yeah, I got her from Charles Mills. I visitted him and picked her up right as I was getting into bp's, and he suggested that she'd be a great female to have. As a CH, he said she might be a picky feeder, but she's actually been the best feeder I have.

I spoke with him last week (if you know him, he's great at talking...much like me so our conversations are usually pretty long!) and he was giving me direction on what I should do with her.

EnD_Constrictors Oct 29, 2005 02:49 PM

Yeah, all of our phone conversations lasted at least an hour, but what better subject to talk about for prolonged periods of time? So what are your plans for her? My male het axanthic I got from him has already got his groove on with two poss. het females, and I just barely started cooling a couple weeks ago. Glad to hear she is a great feeder, good luck with her.
Evan

bpconnection Oct 29, 2005 05:47 PM

Charles said that ideally, we could breed her and then breed her offspring back to her and see what happens, but the time/value of that would probably not be as good as just introduce her as a normal into my current projects. He suggested just breeding her and keeping notes on what is produced down the line...then if anything interesting shows up later, I can trace it back to her. Simply, don't make her her own project, but if something comes up later, go with it. Otherwise, just treat her as a cool normal.

That being said, she is dang cool. I love her to death. I also like how she isn't aggressive at all, but also isn't shy...She's my favorite snake!...even more than my blonde! I'm excited at doing something cool with her. Any thoughts are welcome!

I'm watching her eat as we speak. It's her second feeding with me, but the pet store had her eating well. Until I have more experience, I'll worry about her. She's not as aggressive as my California King is, but she eventually gets there. The rat pinkie just went into her throat. I'm happy about that.

Actually, this guy is darker than most of mine, but this is the one who got my wife to accept snakes. Good man!

Here is my largest 'normal' female. She was $35 bucks (bought approx. 9 years ago as an adult, presumed to be a WC import from the previous owners comments and feeds EXTREMELY well), is just a hair over 6 feet and pushes 9 pounds by the end of the summer. Hands down, she lays eggs larger than ANY of my other females. She's a permanent keeper.
