Temp day/night difference?

Malays Oct 28, 2005 04:13 PM

Hello
I wanted to ask if anyone prefers a day and night drop in temp for their gray banded?
I use a 20 long for my baby gray banded . It has hide area in hot and cooler area.
The hot area has a blue 60 watt bulb over the hide cave and a cobra heat pad under it. Thin layer of sand over it.
During the night I switch to dark light bulb same wattage over that area. I was curious if the UTH which is set at 90 is enough?
The air temp in the room he is kept at is 72 so thinking perhaps just the UTH will suffice. I ask this question because notice lots here just use UTH and not sure if its to warm for him at night. Both UTH and 60 watt spotlight are on only one side of tank other side darker and cooler.
thanks

I'm no expert, but I think as long as you keep it above 80 deg during the day, it's ok if it gets down to mid-high 60's at night during the Winter...

Mine seem to double up and jam themselves between the glass and the water bowl or hide to retain body warmth.
