WEEK IN REVIEW

toshamc Oct 28, 2005 07:27 PM

This week started off with a heated discussion about whether or not it was ok to feed your snake 3-5 times a week. And was quickly deleted for some reason.

This is not our goal!

There was a request that Axanthics be added to the Hunters Guide – unfortunately either due to Wilma or lack of interest it has not been added – if you’d like to participate send your pictures and information to Jon!

Speaking of Wilma – she made her way thru Florida earlier this week – some of our fellow herpers made it out unscathed and others are still scrounging for gas to fill their generators. Good luck guys keep us posted on your situation. By the way – someone let Amir know that I have plenty of room here in sunny So. Cal. if he’d like to vacation the Ebony or his Marbled Pastel here.

A $500 Albino =

Copperhead bite story – boy finds snake – boy puts snake in box – boy takes box to school – students hold – pet snake – aggitate snake - girl gets biten may loose arm – local news announces “deadly copperhead – girl luck to be alive.” Shows picture of ball python under the copperhead heading. BP enthusiast inundate local news – picture quickly replaced!

Rack Question – to drill holes or not to drill holes – yes do

Brief double het discussion – why you would want to buy a het albino possible pied:

The Derma reared it’s ugly head again bringing with it more controversy. Again another 15 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.

For those of you that like it:

NERD unveiled their:
Coral Glow Bumblebee

And:

Coral Glow Pastel

Another debate on the lucy snow issue what makes what and what stays whitest longest. When are we going to debate which snake stays orangest longest?

Things people are afraid of – I brought this up because of the mislabeled copperhead issue – which was quickly followed by the cop pummeling the rat snake post. According to the article that I read snakes lead this year of most common fears – but many contradicted this article but admit it’s up there. Which leads us to this article from NBC of the 10 deadliest animals in America
Slide Show

For those of you that don’t want to go thru the whole slide show here is #10:

girl bitten by copperhead and may lose arm

article day later.....

girl fine leaves hospital.......

......anti-venin works.......

Duh....why didn't we think of that.......?

..anyways.......

.
.
.
.yea....what is that green looking pastel looking thing?.......and that is a sweet paradox........

The loosing the arm thing did sound a little extreme to me but what do I know? A friend who has been bitten by copperheads more than once claims if it happens again he will not even bother going to the hospital (note, NOT my recommendation). Apparently they didn't even give him enough pain medicine to deal with the headache of arguing over and over with the staff as to how he couldn't possibly have been bitten by a copper head because they aren't native here.

....I would go...tissue loss may happen and even if it's a fingertip it gets ugly

guy I knew(still owes me money) got tagged by a cottonmouth..same family yet worse....all his red blood cells died......and screwed him up bigtime.he couldn't walk right for awhile and couldn't drive for over a year....yea..it's really worth it...here's your sign.....

a friend got tagged by a pygmy rattler and did nothing for it and was fine yet the pain made him say he would have cut off his hand if he could have....

another friend got tagged by a cobra and lost finger third...then got tagged by a mamba and was screwed again...no loss....all is fine from both......yet the doctors probably almost killed him the first time by not listening to him..they took off his pressure bandage and put on a turniquet....sent him down fast......think they didn't give him anti-venin for like 6 hours either........duh.....anyways...he's ok ...see him every week.....right bro.......LOL

HOTS are NOT for alot of people...a day will come real soon when they will be banned for all to own....and alot of people will have worthless collections or illegal collections (alot of that)....or take them all to FL and dump them around Miami.......might settle down the drug traffic for a week or two.......?............naah........

........have fun........

yea.....people at work ask me all the time if I ever got bit...I tell them yea.like 1000 times......they look at me and wonder why I am not dead from snake bite.......duh........corns and balls.........then I have to explain the whole 9 yards.....

ever wonder where the term "whole 9 yards came from".....during a war?.WW1 or II I forget.....the shell strips (whatever they are called)......were 18 feet long..and gunners would say "I gave them the whole 9 yards" when refering to the attack and amount of shots they fired.......I say reload and give them 3 strips?.........bam!.......anyways.......

.......

post a paragon pic damnit..............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

adult caramel? adult butters and lessers? adult clowns even at least......LOL.........

Seems pretty weird it would not be the whole 6 yards.

jyohe Oct 29, 2005 04:51 PM

yep..brain ,fingers and all not cooperating...

guess they were 27 feet....

wonder how many cartridges in that?......

......anyways........

I must say that I found your 'Week in Review' to be informative and entertaining ... and a good chuckle to boot. Please note, this is the first time that I've read one ... being a 'newt-guy and paperboy' (but Ball Python friendly), I only 'lurk' here occasionally.

By reading the "WIR", your forum participants can catch up on all the highlights of the long and extensive threads that you people enjoy in this unique forum; and it appears to be useful for forum regulars that have to be away for a while, and is a great 'snapshot' for newbies on what to expect ... and the photos of your critters are just great.

My compliments on a great effort, and I'll be sure to stick my nose in from time-to-time, if only to catch up on the 'WIR'. Wonderful pics as well.

respects
Wes

hmm... does not look deleted to me. I found the thread on the BP Health/Diet forum. The thread looks like it was cleaned up some, but more or less intact. Seems like at least once a week a bunch of random older threads get shifted from this forum to some of the other BP forums depending on their topic.
