crested likes crickets only

wolf-force Jul 21, 2003 08:49 PM

Hi. Is it unusual for my crested gecko to not like baby food or fruit? I have tried many flavors of baby food and several types of fruit but from what I can tell, he's not eating any. He loves crickets. He likes to go after them as soon as I put them in. He loves the hunt to, he will perch on a vine or plant and watch for the right time, then strike. He's only 2 months old and looks very healthy and he's getting more colorful.

Crested geckos are primarily insectivorous so yes it is very normal, esp for young geckos. I would just keep giving him the crix daily and fruit once a week or so. He will grow like a weed plus it’s more fun to watch them hunt . As he gets older he should develop more of a taste for fruit and as adults you can give it to them a bit more. Or you can go the CGD route. Browse the forum a bit and you will find plenty information on both and decide what’s best for you.
