i was givin a young beardy from a freind who decided she could not afford to keep him any more. she gave me her whole setup, a ten gallon tank one hot light and a piece of drift wood.she also said he was mean and and only eat a dozen crix a week. the poor thing at 4 mounths old wasnt much bigger than a hatchling, about an inch longer than my hand. he didnt eat very much the first couple days, well around day three i set him up in a twenty gallon with proper lighting and a perch about 4 inches from the hot light, right away he started eating more and after a few days was eating vegies as wella few weeks after that he started taking pellets as well. anyways its been 4 mounths now making him 8 mounths or so and hes doing great, eating almost a dozen crix a day plus vegies and pellets, he loves attention and wont let me put him away, has very good color for a normal and is getting huge. hes 11 or 12 inches now and very plump, time to build his permanent home. so my question is can you feed them to much i think hes fat. when he chases his crix his belly touches the ground.hes very active still but i dont wanna be killing with kindness. i appreciate any input thanks

Personally I feed my little ones as much as they want, and it shows....check out these little chunksters. I feed my adults live prey a couple times a week, but they mainly get salads. The younger ones need lots of protein to grow and I feed them until they're full, usually twice a day.

Yea, I feed my babies/juvies 3 times a day, depending on the size of the crickets, they can put away between 60-90 or so crickets a day, of course, the smaller the crix, the more they eat, lol. You said he is eating pellets too though, so that is good, but if he is still hungry, then I would feed him. Really can't overfeed a baby or juvie bearded dragon.
