I got a young argus flavi cross around a month ago and was wondering if anyone that has one that is on the calm side. I know monitors are not known for being tame or calm or anything like that, so don’t think im expecting a dog tame argus here. Now I know argus is not a very calm monitor, so I went with the flavi cross. As of just now he is about 9weeks old. He is eating a lot and very active. He is not too shy right now so that a good start I would think. He doesn’t like to be picked up but that’s expected. He will come out of hiding when he hears me and check things out. He will check me out when ever im around and will eat right in front of me. Seems to be getting used to me more even in the little time i have had him. They seem very smart too, So I am hoping that he will figure out that I am not a threat.
Well any one who keeps them has any tips or anything that would be great, and if you have a "calm" one, How did you go about his younger years? Lots of handling? none? some? ha.
I do know that lots of experienced monitor keepers say to let them be and do not mess with them. Let them get used to you, and come to you when they want... Has anyone seen this approach work with an argus or a cross? Well even tho I would bet that this question is asked a lot, It would still be nice to hear some personal accounts on argus monitors and other I guess too. Oh and if you have any pics and other help Gus (my Argus Cross) and I will be very thankful.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN
