Precisely the sort of thing you are concerned about Danny Lee.....

...is in the classifieds. A group of 16 animals of all ages including albinos, hets and normal milksnake and leonis phase for the person interested in a designer albino thayeri project. What do you think might happen with many of the het/normal looking offspring from a project like this?

I don't blame you in the least for your concern and doubt under the circumstances. I commend you for it. The more you learn, the more suspicious you will be unfortunately but it sure feels good when someone with the appreciation and concern such as yourself joins the club. Welcome aboard!

What is the word on Amelanism in Thayeri? As I understand it, their are no longer any pure Thayeri Albinos...is that true? There was supposidly an albino that showed up some years ago...did it have any offspring? As I recall, it was lost to the hobby before it could reproduce.
Cheers,
Danny Lee

You are correct Dan. There was one produced by a fellow in Texas quite a few years ago. Subsequently, it died and I do not recall what became of its parents. I bet Joe Forks knows.

For an albino thayeri to pop out now would be anti-climatic......but that's just me. But I know lots of folks like albino stuff.

Any albino thayeri out there now are albino ruthveni crosses. Same with albino alterna. If you see any for sale, don't let anyone mislead you that they're pure.

Not being anything remotely close to an authority on the topic, I can only say that I understand the story much the same as you and serpentdan, and thanks Dan V for the help with a few details. Certainly, if such a genetic morph in thayeri existed in the living captive world, no doubt we would all know about it and you wouldn't see folks creating them.

Something like a true albino thayeri couldn't be kept much of a secret for very long at all... it would be worth a small fortune and word would spread light speed.

Photo ID quiz, let's see if one of the old pros can handle this one! Here's an Evan Stahl X Dan Vermilya '03 yellow leonis male, fresh photos this morning. Question is, who produced that outrageous '03 orange leonis male there in the middle?!! And I want a specimen ID number please, and no more hints...

If I could see the head pattern that would be helpful. DV

...and two additional photos from this morning of two of his three sibling sisters that are here. That should help. However, now I need THREE ID's please!

All of your animals here are doing particularly well and obviously look fantastic.
