Temp. Fluctuations

Hello all, I posted a similar post in the cage and habitat design. I just upgraded my thermometers from the half dollar stick ons to an indoor/outdoor digital. At halfway between the lightsource and the bottom of his cage is where I always placed them in the past, and last night at that placement was a nice 90 degrees for my burm's hot spot. However, over the night it fell down directly beneath the light and was measuring 110 plus. Where do you all recommend placing thermometers, and from which areas are the readings most important? Any input appreciated.

I keep my thermometers at tha back of the cages where the snakes are most likely to lie. One on each side.
One side having a humidity gauge, or I place one between the thermometers.
I place my thermostat probe right near the thermometerm on the hot side.
I check my temps at least once a day using a temp gun.

I place the probes on the floor of the cage. Any attempts at keeping them stuck on the walls are always foiled by the snakes knocking them down.
