Dumeril eating

drzrider Oct 29, 2005 03:01 PM

Here are a couple of pics of me feeding my Dumeril. He takes the food very gently and does not freak out even if I am very close. I guess I am chicken$#!t since I wear gloves. HAHA I am feeding ground turkey in the pictures. Whole prey is the main food.

Wild caught. I got it at a show on September 4th.

It was dehydrated and skinny when I got it, not in good shap at all.

Hi there - very nice Dumeril you have! I just had a general question for you as I am new to monitors and hope to get one soon. I see that you are feeding him ground turkey, is this something you just get at the market, or is it something special you need to get. Also, how often is it recommended to feed ground tukey instead of whole foods? Thanks so much in advance for helping out a curious newbie!

I will start off by saying whole foods are always best. I don't recomend only feeding ground turkey. It does not have the total nutrition that whole food has.

With that disclamer out of the way.

You can get ground turkey at the grocery store. It is cheaper than hamburger. Do a search on the San Diego Zoo diet. I feed the dumeril mice (hoppers) mostly, but occasionally I feed it ground turkey. I am looking for a local suplier of crawdads and shrimp.
