I recently aquired a male yearling P. brongersmai from Kara at NERD. He'a a beauty, docile and has a curious habit engaging a retro-catapillar gear when first picked up. Clearly its a withdrawing or retiring action but I have never seen it so pronounced in any other species. When placed on a sunny SoCal lawn, he intially demonstrates the same behavior and adds a corkscrewing-anchoring movement with his short, sharp tail into the turf. Again, both behaviors are dislayed only intially; in short time, he's out exploring his environment in typical serpentine fashion. The short tail certainly has a function though...have you all seen that before or is it idiocyncratic?

Hey,
It's typical do not over handle me bevavior, or I'm not use to these foreign hands all over me. I don't have lots of bloods that do this, but from time to time, they assume this behavior if I haven't handled them in a bit. However, there is one male from Kara too, that has this habit.
