Oddities after shedding

addictis Jul 21, 2003 09:16 PM

My 2 yo ball python just finished shedding a few days ago and I noticed some pure white scales behind his head and along his neck. This is the first time I have seen this snake shed and he did not have these scales beforehand. I have had my other python for over year and I have never seen this before. Is it possible that this is the beginning of an illness or do they sometimes get these colorless scales after shedding?

Thanks in advace!
Jess

My 7 month old ball had that before. It went away with the next shed, but I don't know what caused it.

...Not an indication of impending illness. They probably will remain but nothing to worry about! Scott J. Michaels DVM
