Whats the chance of this 05 NJ "type" eastern losing its white

coolhl7 Oct 29, 2005 05:46 PM

My three easterns are the first I have ever had despite 40+ yrs of herping (I know its about time!) Some of you very experienced with easterns stated that many NJ types will start with yellowish chains and turn white later....do they sometimes start white and turn yellow???
Anyone want to venture a guess as to how "white" this 05 will turn out or is impossible to say? Thanks, Norm

I've never seen an adult NJ locality king with yellow bands. (Well... the cali king population in NJ doesn't count lol).

I'd bet that the baby keeps the white chains all through it's life.

thanks for the encouragement but I know down deep you are really hoping for feeders for your Regals(LOL).

Nah... They are going into brumation as soon as I get rid of those mites.

I wouldn't use a king as food unless it was either kinked or f/t.

Without seeing the adults its impossible to tell. Easterns that are going to dingy usually start getting so toward the end of the 1st year. Its a looker for sure I hope it stays clean for you.

Thanks for the reply. If my 1.2 turn dingy you are going to have to put me on your 2006 list...

I am not trying to be funny, but its been a mystery where my 1.2 eastern kings came from other than to say I got 3 solid clean chunky newborns that slam F/T pinks and small fuzzies for $65 total from someone who bought them from someone else....I really wish I knew what the sire and dam looked like.
I hope she keeps the white. The other 2 are yellowish.

Oh yeah now I remember these from your other post on them. They are still nice no matter where they are from.

..while it may look great now, it is obvious to me that the snake will turn into a freak that you would not want anywhere near your others. Send it to me as I have lots of "special" snakes here and it will not be teased.

Mark, dont you spend enough time cleaning colubrid poop?
what you really need are some ETBs....mine poop every 2 months as opposed to every 2 days with these kings.

crimsonking Oct 30, 2005 01:07 PM

...just send all the ugly etb's my way!
