Strange colombian boa

matt_fl Oct 30, 2005 10:53 AM

This my young female colombian boa. It's like she's a domestic animal, she appears and acts as though she has had the wild bred out of her.

I like wild looking boas but I think this not so wild looking boa is just as interesting because she seems so not wild.

Notice how strange her pattern is. Where a normal boa would have large dark spots betwwen saddles, she only has the small broken up speckle remnants of them. Her medallions are more like tiger stripes than circles. She has many and bright patches of pink, orange, and even white. Her head pattern, a portion of her camoflauge key to getting close enough to prey to strike is greatly reduced.
Her tail is quite red for a colombian boa

I would describe her as having a reduced pattern.

Anyway, I just wanted to show off this strange boa. She must come from a long line of captive bred boas. She seems to be selectively bred for docility. She sees people as security and warmth. She actually slithers over to me to hide beneath my crossed arms.
Thanx for looking!!!
