One of my male chondros which was purchased last jan as a yearling from a very reputable breeder has been off feed since the day i got him. The breeder explained he was off feed since december and should begin to eat again in accouple of months(which i know is common for a male of this age),so i didnt think anything of it. According to the feeding record he went off feed dec14 2004, and hasnt fed since, i attempt to offer every week while feeding the rest of my collection and still shows no interest at all, ive tried live rat pups in the cage over night, pinkies, fresh killed mice, and rat pups, thawed mice/rat pups...and no response. my concern is how much longer can he survive while not eating, in the begining i thought nothing of it, but its comming up on a year since his last meal. other than the very noticable weight loss, hes seems healthy, clean sheds, deficates or should i say urinates, drinks, and just hangs out on his perch. when handled hes alert and strong. i dont know if i should take another approach to this or wait it out. worse case take it to my vet. ive tried to contact the breeder a week ago with out any response so i figured i post it hoping someone may have a similar situation or tips to get a meal in him. i have kept gtps for 2 yrs now and have never had any problems or seen (or heard of) a male going off feed this long.
