Female Hypo Honduran het extreme

davester Oct 30, 2005 08:47 PM

Here's a little better pic of this hondo. She is a light, red eye hypo, offspring of extreme to hypo pairing from Don Shores. She shows a little tipping coming in with the orange. It will be interesting to see the combination with my extreme.
Let me know what ya think,
Dave Stevens

I had thought that the extreme trait was unreliable and did not breed true. Am I mistaken or are you just optimistic. I know that extremes produce extremes but not in the same way that say albino do. Please give more info on this as I am very interested. And I would like to be wrong.

Thanks Jason

Optimistic yes always, the extreme hypo clutches are variable thats what makes them a suprising morph to work with. I think this pairing will produce different shades of hypos. I am looking foward to producing my first extreme. And these hypos are from two seperate bloodlines it will be interesting to see combined.
Thanks,
Dave

OK I thought I maybe missed something or that you had a snake from another line.
Thanks Jason

Well lets just say the two(my extreme and this extreme offspring) were from different breeders and different blood. I know they all relate back to the original hypo that someone found but, there are different shades of extreme. I've seen some(pics) that are almost flesh colored to a light olive green.
Thanks
Dave

Dave,

Since the morph hasn't yet been demonstrated to be a true recessive--so far the results have been variable, as you point out--I think it's better not to use the term "het" which implies it IS a recessive trait and that results could be predicted by the usual recessive expectations. I've been saying an animal is "hypo from an extreme parent," something like that--it accurately describes the animal's lineage without using the term "het" that may or may not prove to be correct.
