hi all, im writing because ive read so many times that ball pythons need humidity..like 60%...ok and now i read melissa kaplan's page and she says no humidity, just a water bowl for the bp to soak in..i think she is a reputable source, but it is conflicting..any advice is great because im getting my 4 females in on tuesday and i am setting up their enclosures tomorrow..thankss..

It's my understanding that they live in dirt burrows that are relatively humid. Mine seemed to do just fine for several years in an somewhat arid enviroment on aspen bedding and an incandescent bulb for heat, both of which suck any moisture out of the air. I would just spray mist once a day when I noticed them getting close to shedding. If I didn't spray them, they did have problem sheds (a million pieces).
This year I switched from aspen to cypress mulch and I spray regularly, and they always have better sheds now (one piece). The slightly more humid enviroment does seem to be better for them, and is probably more like their natural enviroment, although 60% humidity does sound a bit high to me.

Kirk
