Egg Question

Biscuit71 Jul 21, 2003 10:37 PM

My leo has laid a few clutches so far, and every time, she digs in the sand, lays them, and buries them in this HUGE mountain. If i take them out right after she lays them, and put them into an incubator, will they be ok even tho they have calci-sand all over them? I dont know if that sand will Dry them out or not.... Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

They will be okay, the sand shouldn't dry the eggs out. As long as the humidity levels are good, then your eggs shouldn't dry out. n/p

Do you have a lay box? I use a shoebox sized Sterilite container in my breeder tank with an inch of bed-a-beast. I keep it very moist during laying time and they will pile it all up on one side in a mound and lay in it. A couple years ago I used calci-sand and my feamles would dig a whole mess of it into the laybox and mix it with the bed_a-beast. I say as long as you get them quickly they will be ok the sand sticking too them never hurt mine any. Just keep an eye out to get them as soon as possible.
