Baby Jacksons' "Nursery"

vegasbilly Oct 31, 2005 01:40 PM

Thanks to all, especially Victor, for taking the time to assist w/my unexpected brood of 14 Jacksons! Attched are some pics of their new enclosure. 4 chambers app. 8"x10"x10" w/ a mixture of live and fake plants. UVB will be across the top and no additional heat will be provided. Let me know what you all think of my "panic driven" construction! This is my first attempt at building a screen cage, much less one w/individual compartments. I learned alot and will now upgrade all of my adults to custom cages!

Thanks for the kind words! Nice mix of canines you have there! Want to add any American Bulldogs to the mix? My sire goes 140lbs while the [bleep] is 92lbs. Should make for some awsome pups! Gotta love those AmStaffs though!

Good work on the multi-celled cage.
Excellent choice of plant for your baby Jacksons, Good luck Money Tree (Pachira aquatica).
The only thing that I might suggest is to cover the exposed dirt of your plants with large pebbles or something to prevent accidental ingestion of planting medium.
Oh, one last thing: Don't forget to put them out in some nice sun when weather permits!
We're rooting for you here!

Thanks, and thanks again for your advice! What would you consider too warm for them? I live in Vegas and its still around 80F. It would have to be early right, and bring them in when nearing 80F??

I know they're way more susceptible to heat than are the adults - and they're sensitive enough as it is! I'll probably put them out early, mist the heck out of them, then bring them in after an hour or so. I robbed a longer Reptisun lamp from one of my Veilds (5.0) and they've all gravitated immediately under the lamp - I guess they're attracted to the increased heat.
