vegasbilly Oct 31, 2005 02:38 PM

Ok, I'm going crazy w/these little guys! Its just that the odds are so overwhelming as far as them all making it. I promise there won't be the same reaction to my clutches of Veilds, Leaf(s) and Panthers!!

Last pics before I move them into their new cages.

Its obvious why you are so excited. They are so tiny and cute. I'm glad they are getting all the attention. A full clutch like that deserves it.

Good luck with your panthers and veilds and leafs.

Is that a pencil cactus you have your babies on? Looks like it from the picture. Is the sap milky white? If so, that is in the Euphorbia family and many (most) Euphorbias have poisonous sap. I might be wrong but figured I'd better say something, not that your plants end up being the problem.

vegasbilly Oct 31, 2005 07:59 PM

Yes it is. I had to trim it a bit to fit and it did bleed white sap. I trimmed it the day before. The sap stoped oozing w/in 30 minutes and I rinsed it twice just to make sure. I moved them off of it today but its perfect for baby Chams, especially if you don't have to trim it. They've been on it for almost a week -until today w/no adverse reactions.

Hey,

I am not a plant expert, and I don't pretend to be, and there are many many plants that you can use that are safe. But I always use umbrella plants, pothos plants, and hibiscus plants. Hibiscus plants, ficus and croton plants have worked great for many, but not me. However, I never saw a need to try other types of plants, and risk it hurting the chams. There is no need for it. The plants I ust named are available at any garden center. Obviously croton would not be a good choice for the small babies, cause they can't climb on it. Umbrella plants work well. It is all about how much you are misting them. Pothos and umbrella might thrive in one condition, while hibiscus and ficus will thrive in another. Find out which plants work well for you. But I don't reccommend just using any plants before you research it more. Kammerflage Kreations (chameleonsonly.com) has it posted on their website which plants are safe and which plants are dangerous. Be sure to clean the plants properly too. Good luck.
