Vanishing S. Ringneck pattern

candb Oct 31, 2005 06:57 PM

One of my baby Southern ringnecks is missing alot of the "dots" that are on the underside, of all others i have ever seen have them, So I am wondering if that would be considered vanishing trait or not? Ill try to get some pics posted soon of it. Has anyone else ever seen this, this question especially goes out to mike as he is the ringneck man. Thanks

Depends on what you mean by "vanishing", I and a few others on this board have had specimens that are missing spots. I have an adult right now that is missing several spots.

Mark(crimsonking) has found a couple that only had 1 dot every other ventral scale.

Well this one probably only has under 15 spots. I mean a very little amount of spots are on this snake compared to my others which has it looks like over 75 spots. He is very unique though to me at least.

I also believe i have a S. Ringneck with severe eye burning of some sort. I found him in a pool, so i assume maybe he was in there for a long period of time and was burned some how. His head looks dry and crackly and his eyes are barly visible as they are grey. I know he isnt going to shed because ive had him over a month and a half. I think maybe they put in more clorine and it caused a severe burn to the snakes face.
