Pine snake rack system....

nodaksnakelover Nov 01, 2005 09:52 AM

Any ideas on building a rack system for adult pines would be appreciated! I've got a tub in mind, at reptiletubs.com, number CB 75. Am thinking of going with 3/4 inch plywood, with three inch heat tape on the shelves in the back as belly heat. Any thoughts a comments welcome and much appreciated, thanks!

Russel,

we have used a rack system for the smaller species for about 10 years now. It works fine and is a lot easier to clean than the traditional caging etc. Deppei deppei, Deppei Jani, Cantifer, and Baja's all seem to enjoy the seclusion also. Of course for the rest of the group up to about 2 - 3 years old they do well also. I don't use the heat tape as so many times I have had problems with it in the past. We heat the entire rooms and then cool as needed in each of the cages. Our racks are made of 3/4" plywood with a center support and have been fine for that period of time.
