How do you tell Yellow from Red Ackies?

vferra7777 Nov 01, 2005 10:25 AM

I have bought quite a few. Some were sold to me from reputable people as reds and some were sold to me from reputable people as yellows. I have asked everyone locally. What is the best way to know if it is a $100 or so yellow or a $250 or so red? Vinny Ferraiolo

Reds, (acanthurus) have large well defined tail spines.

A difference in head and neck pattern if you look close.

Even look this way as hatchlings.

yellows, are brachyurus, much smaller tail spines, and other differences.
