Constipated Jungle Carpet Python, help!

mqb31 Nov 01, 2005 10:49 AM

I was hoping someone could answer a few questions on my JCP, she is a 5yr old female and is constipated, I have seen her trying to defecate several times but unable. I have soaked her in warm water several times over the past two weeks. Its probably been close to 2 months since she last defecated. Should I be worried and take her to a vet asap? Is there anything else I can do besides soaking her in warm water? I am worried that she will be hurt soon if she doesnt go! I appreciate any advice greatly.

well, i know when i have my 7 foot male out to get exercise in the back yard that helps alot. i don't know if your able to do that but have you tried something like that?
another time he will go, or any of my snakes for that matter, is when i'm holding them and letting them glide through my hands. i think it stimulates them also.
mine hasn't had a bowel movement for a while either. but that is becasue he hasn't eaten since sept 9th. he has refused food the last 3 times i offered. i'm going to try again this weekend to feed him.

Breeding season has started for carpets. He may not feed for a couple months.
