I think I have the sweetest ig there is...finally!

It's been a while since I posted and I wanted to tell everyone
of the changes in Digit. He is just over 2 years old now and
I started to believe he would never really like or trust me.

In the last several months the changes have happened. I can
pick him up and do anything with him now and he even looks
forward to these interactions. He even loves his baths now
and I no longer need to hold him in the tub. He does his
best to get my attention when I am taking care of Beanie.

He is coming into breeding season again but is so gentle
unlike last time. We have worked it out that if he needs
his towel (you know what for) he will gape when I open his
cage but will not offer to bite me. If he doesn't need it
he will climb onto my hand and just let me pet him.
I adopted him in 10/03 and it took this long for him to totally
trust me. I didn't have the opportunity to hold him everyday
but I always interacted with him 2 times/day whether he liked
it or not.

Just wanted to let anyone know who wonders if it will ever
happen that it will, and it is so rewarding when it finally
does. He is such a joy, very kind and even funny at times.
I think the rate he is growing, he will be a big guy
so I am relieved that I will be able to handle him. I need to
figure out my new camera so I can post some new pictures of
him. He truly is beautiful!

Just wanted to share
Linda

Hi, I'm new here, but glad to hear that things with Digit are finally working out. I adopted a young ig a few weeks ago, but luckily so far we haven't had any problems. He was owned by a guy who had lost his job and couldn't afford him anymore, so I took him/her, and since the first day he arrived here, anytime I enter the room he is in, he will climb on his cage, near the door and beg me to let him out. He will climb onto my arm, and lay there for a while until he sees something he wants to invistigate. I can touch him anywhere on his body, and do pretty much anything to him, and he has no problems with it, although he is not crazy about bath time, I just let him rest on my hand in the tub for a little while and he calms down and then adventures into the water on his own. Sorry this is sooooo long, but I'm glad that Digit has finally accepted you and now you all can become even closer. Linda.

I am glad to hear that, it is very encouraging. Bud has been pretty good since we took him in a couple of months ago though we have spent a lot of time attempting to set up who the alpha iguana is in the house (I am!). We have finished his new cage and he will be moving into it in the next couple of days. We have spent much time letting him roam around when we can be there with him. We normally open his cage and when he is ready he comes out. He actually came over to me and layed down on my lap the other day which was a major break through! He has bit me twice now and puts no pressure behind it at all, just a warning. Sorry to go on too, but that is great for you, congrads!
