I'm not sure what type of gecko it is, or even if it's a gecko. Any help would be appreciated.

The picture is not very good but I think it is H. garnoti

Take a look at the link for a picture of one.

It is a gecko that is found in Flaorida but is a non-native species.

John
Hemidactylus garnotii

thanks for the info, can you give me the non-scientific name of it?

I found him in a trailer in AL, just runnin around in a roach trap. lol

Thanks for the info. Also, can you give me a care sheet or something? I am slightly experienced in reptiles but this would be my first gecko. thanks

Try this link

http://reptiles.thepsionguild.net/housegeckocaresheet.html

The common name is indo-pacific gecko
You can treat them like house geckos (which they are commonly lumper into since house gecko is the common name of most any small gecko that will "infest" a house).
Care is pretty much the same as anoles so a florida or bermuda anole care sheet will do fine.

Basically, keep them warm, 80 to 85, and humid. Use a substrate that holds humidity like cocofiber/sand mix and mist lightly once a day. Keep a water dish and feed appropriate sized crickets. They are, like most geckos, nocturnal.

John

At first glance it looked to me like a Mediterranian Gecko or Turkish Gecko. I've found them in Florida, as well as in Houston and Austin Texas. I think I found one in Bolivia too, but that seems hard to believe. If it has a lot of little spherical bumps on it, that might be it.

Mediterranean geckos don't really look that much like Indo-Pacific Geckos, but the problem is they both can go really pale and dark, and mottled patterns, depending upon temperature and mood and who know what else.
