Hey everybody,

I have this cham, a full grown female ambilobe panther. After laying a clutch of eggs, which went bad by the way, about 3 weeks ago. They probably went bad from me giving her albon like a dope while she was gravid, cause I didn't know (I got her gravid). Anyway, after she layed them, she just never seemed to re gain her weight. Her stomach isn't particularly skinny, but her tail, spine and legs are very thin. You can clearly see the bones in those areas. Now, I know you guys are gonna say waxworms to fatten her up. But, is that the only alternative???
She has completely stopped eating crickets, and I've yet to give her anyother feeder. I will give her silkworms in a few days too. Is there anything else I should do?

Waxworms and silkworms will help, but you can also try hornworms, houseflies (may stimulate her interest), roaches, mantids, spiders, or dull colored moths. She's probably run down and not feeling very interested in anything. I'd also give her a lot of privacy, showers, outdoor sunlight, and gutload everything carefully to build her back up.

I agree with Carlton about the insects. Also make sure she stays hydrated. Just out of curiosity, how long have you been keeping/breeding panthers?

I have been keeping/breeding panthers for 2 years, and chams in general for well over 5 years. Thats pretty good for a 16 year old if ya ask me...

Yea, I ordered alot of goliath hornworms yesterday, 20,000 silkworm eggs (every place is out of large ones anyway), i tryed to order butterworms, but not sure if the order went through, and I am gonna get waxworms tomarrow. I upped the misting system to twice its normal times on (was gonna do it anyway since I made my new irrigation system), and I am gut loading everything great. She doesn't seem that bad yet, but you know how chams are: once they start heading down hill......

I will let you guys know how she turns out.

Did any of her clutches hatch well? Maybe it was something she's had for awhile being gravid/laying made it worse. Keep us posted

I haven't had her very long, and never got a good clutch out of her, and as a matter of fact, she has never even bred for us. She was gravid when we got her. She was very healthy when we got her, but as I said, for some reason after she layed the eggs, she just isn't gaining the weight back. I ordered alot of hornworms, butterworms, and silkworms, so hopefully she will accept those. I will let you guys know how she turns out.

Call the company just to make sure that butterworm order whent through.
Also, maybe think about supplimenting electrolyes? To stimulate eating and such.

I will try giving her electrolite supplements, but to be honest, it probably won't help. Everything with the butterworm order went through. So I should get those monday.
I didn't post a pic, cause I didn't want to post a pic of a sick cham. I know whats wrong with her, I just can't help her. You guys probably won't be able to either. I am trying my best, and i will let u guys know how it turns out. I didn't know how many people loved my pics!!! I will have to upload and post more.
